Hello career educators! I have created a document that sheds more light on what can sometimes feel like the murky world of “who’s responsible for what” when it comes to WEX and student coverage for workers’ compensation.
The attached WorkSafeBC update is intended to provide some clarity in the form of a series of frequently asked questions. I have shared this document with the Ministry of Education, so you may receive it through your districts as well. Please feel free to share it with other educators.
I will be discussing this document and more when I present at CES regional meetings in Cranbrook and Kamloops in May. If you live in those regions and are among the educators who’ll be attending those meetings, I’ll see you there! And on that topic, a reminder: the 2019 Student Safety Video Contest closes March 22, so if you know students who you think might be interested in participating, please remind them that the deadline is quickly approaching! There are four, $2,500 cash prizes (winning students and their schools share each cash prize), plus the Actsafe Aspiring Filmmaker Award, which includes lunch with a prominent Canadian filmmaker, a behind the scenes tour of a local production and screening of the winning video at a Directors Guild of Canada event.
